Dear PianoDisc Remote App Purchasers.
This is Richie Hayes. I am behind the development of this app. I do not work for PianoDisc, but I wish I did!! I will tell you this though. I work on their products every day for a living and have been doing so for the last 19 years. Wow!!
But I wanted to thank every one of you for purchasing the app. I know it's a bit expensive for an app. But it's not really that much when you consider what it's for. It is absolutely dedicated to your PianoDisc iQ system. It has taken a few years to develop and it's getting better all the time.
The first thing I wanted to share with everyone is something so cool that I can't stand it!! That is the app will now play MusiConnect Files!
The version that you have now won't, but you will have a free update very soon which will. This opens up all kinds of possibilities!!!
This is beyond cool. Let me tell you what this means. A lot of the music that you buy from PianoDisc comes as raw data or as a midi file. With MusiConnect, you can convert the file so that you can load it into itunes. Once it's in iTunes you can download it to your ipod. And then you can transfer the music wirelessly to your iQ system and the piano will play it. Up until now, the app would not play these files. Now it will.
Here is the best part. You'll be able to take any midi file from the internet and turn it into an mp3. Once it's an mp3, your piano will play it. Here's is something else. If you're using a midi mobilizer, you can run your recordings into MusiConnect and turn them into mp3s. Once they're mp3s you have VOLUME control. Awesome. The midi mobilizer program (midi memo) doesn't have volume control. But once again, once the file is an mp3 you've got volume control.
***Keep this in mind. There are a lot of midi sites on the internet. Some of the midis that they have are awful. Some of them are incredible. You will simply have to look until you find one that works right. I will try and help with this by posting some links on this page.
Okay back to the midi files. A lot of the midi files on the net also have audio. Now if you've been around for a while, you probably know what these midi files are. You probably remember the days when we needed to have a tone generator to play a midi file. Well, those days aren't necessarily gone, but a lot of the files come with a built in .Wav file which is the audio. Since this is the case, you can have really cool audio and midi on your iq system. When I say midi, I mean the data that plays the piano. So you'll hear audio and piano with a lot of these files.
I will provide an example of this. To be honest, I was surprised by this.
Now the app. The app will play these files. It will allow you to balance the piano and audio. It will also allow you to mute the piano or audio so that you can play or sing along. I LOVE THIS. I might make a little video of me playing along with one of these files. I'm not the best pianist, but I think that everyone should know about it.
App versus mechanical box versus nothing at all.
I have had a change of heart regarding pianodisc iq systems. Since I work on them every single day, I have been able to formulate some really accurate opinions. I say that for you the consumer or for you if you're a tech or dealer.
In order for you to fall in love with your piano, or if you're a tech and you want your customer to cry... Like literally!!!! Then listen to me.
Why should we have to decide between the app and a mechanical balance control box? Why not have both!!!? That is my conclusion. The mechanical box is small. It looks good. It is for the most part fail proof. It works with ANY audio source.
Any audio source means: AirPort, Apple TV, DVD players, CD players, iTunes from your computer, audio from any phone. Audio from anywhere. This is powerful.
The app will only control mps on your apple device. When I say device I mean: Ipod, ipad, mini ipad, iphone.
As you know the app will give you quite a bit of control that a mechanical device can't. I won't go over all of that right now.
This is how I set up all of my iq systems now: http://balanceiq.com/shouldbe.html
Notice the enhanced audio system. Notice the box on the piano. So this piano has a mechanical box. It works with the app too.
All you have to do to make the app work with the box, is to turn up the piano and audio knobs all the way on the box. This takes it out of the circuit.
Of course there will be people who want nothing else added to the piano. If this is the case, then just use the app.
But I would still highly recommend the soundbar. It turns the piano into something magical. Not even kidding!! Wow!!
I have had customers cry because it sounds so good.
I created this quickly using WonderShare DVD creator. I took a midi file and converted it to mp3 with MusiConnect Software from PianoDisc.
I then took that mp3 and loaded it into wondershare and then I got a bunch of paintings from the net. It was a nice Sunday so I created this slide show that goes along well with the Hymn "As I have loved you". This is a perfect example of what you can do for your piano!! Make slide shows of your family or whatever you want. Soooo Cool.
How to install MusicConnect Software. This allows you to convert any Midi file into a format that your iq system will play!! Oh ya baby!!
This is the mechanical box that you'll need to play videos off of youtube. This box will control the balance between the audio and piano. It will work with ANY audio source. Click on pic to order one. Why not use both!!? At least that's my thinking for now!! It might change though...
This is the ultimate pianodisc iq set up. AirPort express is installed under the piano. LG's soundbar is under the piano. The mechancial iq balance control box is on the left of the piano. This customer has the box, but also has the app on their ipad mini.
Play MoonRiver on your piano from YouTube. The squeal sound is the signal that the piano understands. Use your Apple device and airplay to send this to your piano.
What a treat!!! Now listen to David Benoit play your piano from YouTube. Once again stream this audio to your piano.
I just created this for the heck of it. I took a midi file off the internet. It's flight of the bumble bee. I then used PianoDisc's MusiConnect software and converted it to an mp3. I then used windows movie maker to make a simple movie. I used the balance control on movie maker to get rid of the original audio of the video. I then uploaded the movie to youtube. Be careful doing this. The video that I used was not mine. But I made that very clear. So if there's ever a problem, I'll instantly take it down.
